Cheshire Center has a North Carolina state licensed and American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) certified audiologist on staff. Our audiologist supports the Cheshire Center Speech-Language Pathologists in a variety of ways.
- Pediatric hearing assessment: Our audiologist is able to assess hearing not only at the Cheshire Center office but also at the patient’s home, school or daycare center. Our audiometric equipment allows our clinicians to assess hearing in very young children and those who are unable to respond to a routine hearing screening process.
- School-Based Services: Cheshire Center provides audiometric services to local school districts on a contract basis.
- Auditory Processing Screening: A full auditory processing assessment is time-consuming and expensive. Our audiologist uses evidence-based screening tools to determine if a full auditory processing test battery is necessary.
Our audiologist has extensive experience with hearing aids and cochlear implants and is able to support the Cheshire Center Speech-Language Pathologists as they provide services to children with a wide variety of communication needs.
