She is a Certified Natural Language Acquisition trained clinician, a member of the Therapist Neurodiversity Collective, and LAMP trained. Renée recently retired from Guilford County Schools, where she worked at Northern Elementary School and also served as a Lead SLP for the district. She is very excited to have come full circle, back to Cheshire Center, as both a therapist and a mentor/consultant for autism/neurodiversity. “Communication is a basic human right. We all have a deep need for connection – to feel seen and heard. I am honored to be able to assist so many children and their families to make that connection. I am equally honored to be in a field that allows for learning in so many areas from neurology to anatomy to technology. Autism has always been an area of special interest of mine and is what initially drew me into the field of Speech Pathology. As a person with ADHD myself, I am passionate about affirming neurodiversity in all settings, especially in therapy, and being an ally for the autistic and neurodivergent community. When interacting with others who may differ from us in areas such as neurotype, race, gender, sexuality, or socio-economic status, we must be open to learn from their lived experiences.”Meet the Team
I wanted you to know that over the holidays my family here in Michigan could not believe how our grandchild’s speech has improved. Not only the letter sounds, but we all noticed that she no longer stuttered. We were absolutely amazed at how she had improved in such a short time. Thank you for all that you did. It is obvious that you must enjoy your work and you are indeed gifted at what you do. The school district is fortunate to have such an excellent teacher.
The mother says that her child has progressed so much since seeing Choua. She says so much so that even her skeptical mother has had to admit that Choua has been able to get him to do things that she did not think he would be able to do. She wanted to say how grateful she was to Choua for helping her son. She says that it has been life changing.
I’m so thankful for Mr. Chris and how he has helped our oldest son make leaps and bounds in his language. I can understand him, and he talks my ears off now.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the personal attention and support you gave him (and our family) when you worked with our son. You were encouraging, patient, honest, and thorough. I am SO grateful for the work you did with him and I just wanted to make sure you knew that.
